Tata Motors has launched 10 new commercial vehicles in Sri Lanka with Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO). The move celebrates 65 years of partnership and expands Tata Motors’ presence in the Sri Lankan transport market.
The new lineup includes the Tata Ultra series—T.7, T.9, T.12, T.14, and 1918.T. These trucks target city logistics and last-mile delivery. Built on a modern platform, they focus on fuel efficiency, easy handling, and productivity.
For larger loads, Tata Motors introduced the Prima 5530.S and Signa 5530.S. Both are engineered for long-distance freight. They offer strong engines, better fuel economy, and advanced safety systems. These models will support heavy duty transport and infrastructure projects in Sri Lanka.
The passenger lineup features three new buses. The LPO 1622 Magna is designed for inter-city travel. It comes with air suspension for comfort and electronic stability control for safety.
The Ultra Prime LPO 8.6 and LPO 11.6 buses seat 34 and 40 passengers. They serve corporate and staff transport. Both models focus on reliability, fuel efficiency, and easy maintenance.
Girish Wagh, Executive Director at Tata Motors, said the new vehicles address rising demand.
“These new models are developed to align with the growing demands in infrastructure, logistics, and public transportation in Sri Lanka,” he said. “With an emphasis on performance, durability, and cost efficiency, we believe these vehicles will support improved operational outcomes for businesses.”
Ranjith Pandithage, Chairman of DIMO, underlined the value of the partnership.
“Over the past 65 years, we have worked closely with Tata Motors to bring reliable and technologically advanced commercial vehicles to Sri Lankan customers,” he said. “This latest range reflects current market needs and is supported by our nationwide service infrastructure to ensure long-term vehicle performance and customer satisfaction.”
DIMO supports the new lineup with 15 service centers across Sri Lanka. Customers have access to genuine spare parts, expert technicians, and extended warranty options of up to three years or 300,000 kilometers. Annual Maintenance Contracts are also available to match different operating needs.
Tata Motors is one of the world’s established commercial vehicle manufacturers, with more than 70 years of experience. It exports to over 40 countries. The range spans sub-one-tonne mini trucks to 60-tonne heavy duty trucks and buses with seating for 9 to 71 passengers.
With this new launch, Tata Motors and DIMO reinforce their role in building Sri Lanka’s cargo and passenger transport sectors. The partnership continues to deliver reliable, application-focused mobility solutions.
