Tata Motors Bags Orders for More Than 5,000 Buses from State Transport Undertakings

Tata Motors has received an order from several state transport undertakings (STUs) across India to deliver more than 5,000 buses and/or bus chassis. The order includes transport corporations located in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, North Western Karnataka, Telangana, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Kerala as well as Haryana Roadways and Chandigarh Transport Undertaking. The procurement includes fully built and/or chassis versions of buses with specific design features intended for city, inter-city and staff transport services.

Key Models and Various Fleet

This order includes popular models from the Tata Motors Bus range which include Cityride, Starbus, Starbus Prime, and Magna. The chassis’ available for this order are LPO 1618, LPO 1622 and LPO 1822. The different variants of the chassis allow for a wide variety of operational requirements. To quote Anand S, Vice President and Head of Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business - "This order is a strong indicator of a continued demand for dependable public transportation solutions and further demonstrates how the value of bus-based transit continues to be an integral part of the transportation network in India."

Tata Motors works with State Transport Undertakings by providing them with over 4,500 sales and service points across India to maintain their fleet’s performance. These orders are a result of the continued commitment of STUs to modernize their fleets and expand the capacity and accessibility of their public mobility service across urban and inter-city services.
