Bajaj Launches WEGO Electric 3-Wheeler Range with Up to 296 km Range

Bajaj Auto has released a brand new range of electric three-wheelers called WEGO. According to Bajaj, the company has one of the largest selections of EV three-wheelers in India, with varieties catering to both passenger and freight uses. Five separate entries into this launch include seven separate versions, each designed for different types of consumers.

Variant Lineup and Claimed Range

The WEGO collection has four major divisions (or lines) - P50, P70, P90, C90. Each division represents a separate kind of mobile/transport solution.

P50 is P5009 for intra-city use at 213 Kilometers claimed range, and P5012 at 272 Kilometers claimed range.

P70 is semi-urban mobility. P7009 to travel 182 Kilometers range and P7012 to travel 259 Kilometers range.

The P90 division has the most range with the P9018 at 296 Kilometers claimed range; they claim this is also the longest claimed range in this market (category).

The C90 is for cargo, P9009 capable of 149 kilometers claimed range and P9012 capable of 207 miles claimed range; designed for last mile delivery (freight).

Battery, Performance and Utility

There are various sizes of batteries being offered with either a 9.2kWh, 12.1kWh, or 17.7kWh pack. These vehicles use regenerative brake systems for energy recovery upon deceleration, and have been fitted with updated battery management systems for improved efficiencies and performance. The new platform also has substantially larger exterior dimensions, interior dimensions, as well as more passenger space within the cabin and legroom for drivers. In terms of passenger versions there is greater availability of passenger seating and in cargo versions, the loading capacity has also been increased. The gradeability rating ranges from 33% - 36% and includes a climb mode that provides additional assist when ascending hills. A hill hold assist feature is available and the transmission provides two gears (speeds) to facilitate torque management while operating under a load.

Features, Safety and Warranty

The WEGO series comes with features including Bluetooth, digital LCD cluster, and USB charging. The connected features available with the vehicle are geofence alerts, theft / anti-theft alerts, trip data, fleet information, and tracking in real-time amongst many others. The features that assist the driver while reversing include parking sensors and navigation to help with speed limit detection.

Additionally, a fully independent suspension and a hydraulic brake system have been used for the vehicles; major components such as dual-tone seat covers, LED headlights, and everyday items such as cup holders and grab handles can be found on board.

A full factory warranty of 5 years or 1.2 lakh km is provided by Bajaj. The battery warranty can extend beyond that on selected variants for up to six years or 1.5 lakh km.
