Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge to roll out next-generation GST reforms by Diwali. The move is being seen as a crucial step to simplify India’s tax system and energize the commercial vehicle industry.

Boost for Business and Industry

Industry watchers believe that the proposed GST reforms, with reduced tax rates, will lower costs across the value chain. For businesses, that means better margins. For customers, it means more affordable trucks and buses, and for the industry, it signals more growth opportunity and competitiveness.

DICV’s CEO on Benefits for Stakeholders

According to Satyakam Arya, Managing Director and CEO of DICV, “The proposed changes are expected to benefit fleet operators, suppliers, and OEMs, stimulating demand and accelerating economic activity.” He underlined that such reforms would help companies reinvest in advanced technologies, while also expanding their ability to create jobs and strengthen India’s role as a manufacturing hub.

Aligned with Atmanirbhar Bharat

Arya also pointed out that these reforms align closely with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. India can build world-class capabilities at home by encouraging domestic production and reducing import dependence,

He added, “The reforms could strengthen the company’s capacity to invest in advanced, efficient technologies, create more local jobs, and enhance India’s role as a global manufacturing hub.”

Daimler India’s Manufacturing Strength

DICV continues to design, manufacture and export trucks and buses from its Oragadam facility, with a strong focus on local content. This localisation strategy has already positioned Daimler India as a key player in the country’s commercial vehicle industry. The company believes that these upcoming tax reforms will support its efforts to serve both the domestic and International market.

Conclusion

The promise of future GST reforms during Diwali is raising hopes in the industry. Lower tax rates can stem the burden on fleet operators. Suppliers and OEMs can anticipate faster demand. For Daimler India, it's an opportunity to expand its business and be part of India's growth story.
