June 27, 2025, in New Delhi — Today, Delhi made a big step toward greener public transportation as Hon'ble Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta flagged off 100 new DEVi (Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector) electric buses from Narela Terminal. JBM Electric Vehicles, a well-known company in India's electric mobility industry, has provided 66 of these.
This implementation is part of the city's efforts to make public transportation more environmentally friendly. It should also make it easier to get around in the last mile, especially in Delhi's western and northwestern areas. The new buses will run from the Nangloi Depot, which will help lower the amount of pollution caused by cars in some of the busiest areas of the capital.
JBM Electric Vehicles is still the leader in new ideas for electric transportation. The firm has the largest factory in the world for making electric buses outside of China. It is in Delhi-NCR and can make 20,000 buses a year. This facility puts JBM in a good position to satisfy the growing need for electric public transportation in India.
The new DEVi buses are made with the safety and comfort of passengers in mind. Real-time passenger information systems for tracking live whereabouts, onboard CCTV surveillance, stop-request buttons, and dedicated seating for women are some of the most important elements. Fire detection and alarm systems, as well as vehicle health monitoring for preventative maintenance, make things safer.
Drivers will also have a better experience. JBM's ECOLIFE electric buses have ergonomic dashboards that are made to reduce distractions and improve control. This sets a global standard for driver-friendly design.
During the flag-off ceremony, CM Rekha Gupta said, "This launch shows Delhi's strong commitment to sustainable mobility and is in line with India's climate goals."
The DEVi project is still changing how people get around in Delhi, making public transportation not just greener, but also smarter and more accessible. This deployment makes the capital even more of a national leader in the use of electric vehicles.
As these new electric buses start running, Delhi gets closer to a future with cleaner air, better transportation, and a stronger urban environment.
