Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has achieved a major milestone, the company has delivered its 200,000th BharatBenz truck in India. This figure reflects strong local demand, consistent quality, and a decade of focused manufacturing.
BharatBenz, launched in 2012, was built for India. The brand offers trucks from 10 to 55 tons. These trucks serve urban logistics, construction sites, long-distance routes, and mining corridors. The brand also makes buses, tailored to local and regional needs.
The Oragadam plant, located near Chennai, plays a central role. It spans 400 acres and includes a modern test track, headquarters, and R&D centre. At this site, DICV builds trucks for BharatBenz, Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, and FUSO. These trucks serve over 70 markets across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
This factory is part of Daimler Truck’s global network. It blends Indian engineering with German precision. The production system is lean, integrated, and export-focused.

Since early 2025, DICV has operated under the Mercedes-Benz Trucks division. Achim Puchert, its CEO, now oversees BharatBenz. This structure improves coordination. It also aligns the brand with global standards, while preserving its local strength.
The 200,000-truck milestone shows BharatBenz’s role in moving India forward. The company’s trucks run across highways, ports, hills, and industrial belts. In every region, they carry goods, support growth, and power logistics. As demand grows for stronger, smarter trucks, BharatBenz stays ready. With local insight, global systems, and a committed workforce, it continues to shape the future of Indian transportation.
