Montra Electric Launched Rhino 5538 EV at ₹1.15 Crore in India

Montra Electric has launched its Rhino 5538 EV in India, a major milestone in electric commercial vehicles. The Rhino 5538 EV has been priced at ₹1.15 crore (ex-showroom) and it aims to provide businesses with a cleaner, quicker and cheaper freight solution than conventional trucks.

The Montra Electric Rhino 5538 EV is powered by a 282 kWh LFP battery, with 380 hp and 2000 Nm of torque. The EV truck has a claimed range of 198 kilometers on a single charge. The truck is designed for maximum load capabilities with rigid chassis, a 6-speed AMT transmission and standard payload requirements reaching 55 tons including trailers.

One of the most useful features of the Rhino 5538 EV is its battery swapping technology. Instead of waiting for hours to charge, the battery can be swapped in less than six minutes. Montra Electric has set up automated swap stations and it can handle over 160 swaps in a day.

The price of the Rhino 5538 EV also incorporates a 10-year service contract or a 9 lakh km service contract with a 95% uptime guarantee. This gives fleet owners confidence in long-term utilization of the truck, without needing to worry about downtime. 

Montra Electric has already seen success with its earlier heavy-duty truck, the Rhino 6x4 TT, which has run over 1.2 crore kilometres in just two years. The new Rhino 5538 EV seeks to improve on this with better battery swapping, stronger performance and features made for Indian roads.
