Scania, a Sweden-based manufacturer of commercial vehicles, has introduced its SUPER series of trucks into the Indian market. These trucks are designed for mining, construction, and long-haul transportation. The SUPER series trucks aim to deliver fuel savings, as well as operational performance improvements.
The SUPER range features a 13-liter powertrain. Scania claims this engine delivers over 10 percent fuel savings compared to earlier models. It also reduces emissions and increases vehicle uptime.
The trucks include an advanced gearbox. The gearbox produces torque between 2,800 Newton meters and 3,800 Newton meters. This design allows smoother gear shifts and also extends the lifespan of truck components.
A key innovation is the fuel optimization system. The system increases usable fuel tank capacity to 97 percent of total volume. Drivers can travel longer distances without refueling. Fleet operators benefit from shorter turnaround times and higher productivity.
Silvio Munhoz, Managing Director of Scania Commercial Vehicles India, said, "SUPER is built around what matters most to you—over 10 percent fuel savings, higher uptime, and clear cost advantages that strengthen your bottom line." Scania supports the launch with service solutions and financing options.
The SUPER series is now available for order but pricing details are not revealed yet. Customers can customize the trucks to meet specific needs.
Scania established operations in India in 2007. The company built a manufacturing facility in Narasapura, near Bangalore, in 2011. In addition to trucks, it manufactures engines for industrial, marine, and power generation applications.
