Today at the Bharat Mandapam, Tata Motors has unveiled 17 new models of trucks ranging from light-duty to heavy-duty models such as the Tata Ultra E.12 electric truck. According to Tata Motors statement, all models are designed to be safe and incorporate ECE 29-03 European cabin safety regulations. The Ultra E.12 is a medium-duty electric truck.
The Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of the truck is 11,990 kg and that makes it a medium-duty truck. A Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) is used to power the truck and it generates 200 kw and 450Nm of continuous torque. The motor provides excellent traction and torque, particularly when moving from a standstill, a feature that is particularly important in urban driving.
The lithium battery has capacities of 95 kWh and 147 kWh. The smaller battery can be used by operators for short routes in urban areas, while the larger battery will come in handy for longer routes to intercity destinations. The battery has fast charging capability using CCS2. The E axle enhances efficiency of the drivetrain.
Suspension in the truck comes with a parabolic front suspension system and a semi-elliptical rear suspension system. Its braking system consists of pneumatic drum brakes. The truck has a re-start capability on a 25% incline.
Payload capacity ranges between 6,000 and 6,500kg in weight. The truck has a variety of deck lengths to support different kinds of cargo carried by its clients. The truck has 245/90 R16 radial tires to withstand its medium-weight cargo. The Ultra E.12 truck has a maximum operation range of 200km when fully laden.
The Tata Ultra E.12 is more functional than promotional. Based on its specifications, this range of vehicles is intended for those who require zero-emission, medium-duty trucks with high payload capacity, improved safety and operational flexibility. This product launch is one of the manifestations of Tata Motors efforts to accelerate the adoption of electrification in the commercial vehicles segment.
