Renowned vehicular component manufacturing company, Cummins Group in India showcases its low-zero emission products focused on decarbonization at the Auto Expo 2023. The event consisted of senior officials from Cummins Inc. India who together with their leadership team aim to focus on further solidifying its commitment to providing its customers with zero carbon emission vehicular products. 

Speaking at the launch event, Ashwath Ram Managing Director of Cummins Group in India said, “We share India’s vision of ‘Energy for Sustainable Growth’ and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2070. With a promising combination of our strong, global technological expertise and our deep understanding of the Indian market due to our 60-plus years legacy, we are well positioned to contribute toward India’s aim of becoming a cleaner and greener ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. 

He further added, “We understand that the road transport sector has a major role to play in helping reduce emissions so India can meet its climate goals and we are deeply committed to play our part in powering the nation’s decarbonization journey. 1. Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (B6.7H Engine):

According to the brand, Cummins’ hydrogen internal combustion B6.7H engine when powered by green hydrogen produces zero Well-To-Wheel CO2 emissions. The engine is developed aiming at medium and heavy-duty trucks and comes with an industry-leading 700-bar Hydrogen tank that enables quick refuelling.

2. Natural Gas Internal Combustion Engine (CNG / LNG / Bio-CNG):

Natural Gas engines produce lower carbon emissions and can help improve the environment. Moreover, natural gas infrastructure is available and can accelerate the government’s vision of increasing natural gas share in the energy mix from 6 per cent to 15 per cent by 2030. Hence, Natural Gas Internal Combustion Engines can be considered a part of the part to attaining zero carbon emissions. 

3. Electric Powertrain Technology:

The 14Xe ePowertrain is an Electric Powertrain Technology designed for scalability. It can be adapted to fit various electric powertrain needs based on the vehicle application and duty cycle. Its design provides high efficiency, lower weight and better-turning radius. Moreover, it enables a longer vehicle range by integrating the motor and transmission into the axle, thereby freeing up more space for batteries.
