Tata Motors' Ace EV is India's first electric mini-truck designed to revolutionize last-mile cargo transport with zero emissions. Built on the trusted Ace platform, this electric vehicle offers an advanced lithium-ion battery and efficient powertrain, ensuring optimal range and performance for urban and semi-urban deliveries. With a payload capacity of 600 kg, fast-charging capability, and a range of up to 154 km per charge, the Ace EV provides a cost-effective and eco-friendly logistics solution. Its regenerative braking system and connected vehicle features further enhance efficiency, making it an ideal choice for businesses looking to transition to sustainable mobility.
The Ace EV is equipped with Tata Motors' EVOGEN powertrain, delivering high torque and smooth acceleration even on inclines. The vehicle's robust chassis, weather-resistant battery pack, and intelligent drive modes ensure reliability across diverse terrains. Additionally, Tata Motors offers a comprehensive ecosystem including fleet management solutions, dedicated charging support, and end-to-end service assistance. Designed for the evolving needs of the logistics industry, the Ace EV is a game-changer in India's commercial EV segment, aligning with the country's vision for greener transportation.
Compared to all the other IC engine derivatives of the Tata Ace, the Ace EV has a very different powertrain. Here, it comes with a 36 hp electric motor, which is coupled to an automatic gearbox and produces 130 Nm of torque. This electric motor is paired to a 21.3 kWh battery, which returns a range of 154 km, and takes 6-7 hours to get charged from 20-100 percent. Also, it takes just 105 minutes from 20-80 per cent using a DC fast charger.
While the Tata Ace EV is powered by a 35 hp electric motor, it gets a 21.3 kWh battery which provides 154 km of range.
While the powertrain of the Tata Ace EV is massively different from that of the other Ace versions, under the skin, it is not too different. The suspension combination used in the Ace EV is the same setup of a parabolic leaf spring at the front and a semi-elliptical leaf spring at the rear, as other variants of the Ace. The Tata Ace EV gets 13-inch wheels, which come wrapped with 155 R13 tyres.
The Tata Ace EV gets parabolic leaf springs at the front and a semi-elliptical leaf spring at the rear for its suspension setup.
The Tata Ace EV is loosely based on the Ace HT+, which is reflected in its overall dimensions – 4,075mm length, 1,500mm width and 1,858mm height. The Ace EV has a wheelbase of 2,250mm and a ground clearance of 160mm. The rear deck of the Tata Ace EV measure 7.2 ft long and 4.9 ft wide, which offers a payload capacity of 600 kg.
The rear deck of the Tata Ace EV, measuring 7.2 ft long and 4.9 ft wide, claims a payload capacity of 600 kg.
The overall appearance of the Tata Ace EV looks very much similar to the Ace HT+ on which it is based. It also gets the same sharp and angular-looking headlamps, coming integrated with turn indicators into their upper edges. Here also, the grille covers the entire front fascia in between the headlamps, with four partitions within it. The upper edge of the grille has a blue-coloured EV badge to indicate that it is a pure electric vehicle.
The overall design and appearance of the Tata Ace EV look very similar to that of the Tata Ace HT+, with the addition of a blue-coloured EV badge above the grille.
Even the cabin of the Tata Ace EV is shared with that of the Ace HT+, though the former gets a different gear lever compared to the manual stick in the HT+. The Ace EV also gets an all-grey theme for the cabin, with a centrally-placed fully-digital instrument console, a three-spoke steering wheel and a large centre console placed between the front seats.
The Tata Ace EV gets a different-looking gear lever compared to the rest of the versions of Tata Ace.
Apart from the centrally-placed fully-digital instrument console, the Tata Ace EV also gets a lockable glovebox, manual air conditioning and a few open storage cubbyholes. However, the star feature of the cabin of the Ace EV has to be the large 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is quite a novelty feature for an entry-level commercial vehicle.
Apart from the centrally-placed fully-digital instrument console, the Tata Ace EV also gets a touchscreen infotainment system placed in the centre console below the instrument console.
