BMTC Flags Off First Batch Of E-Buses From Switch Mobility

Latest News: Switch Mobility announces that 75 units of its 'EiV 12' electric buses are put into operation in Bangalore under BMTC. Read on for details.

Renowned mobility solutions company, Switch Mobility announces that 75 units of its 'EiV 12' electric buses are put into operation in Bangalore. The buses were flagged off at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru by Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai. The electric vehicle manufacturer, Switch Mobility secured an order for 300 electric buses which will be added to the BMTC lineup. 

The company has also stated that it will be operating, supplying and maintaining the 300 electric bus fleet. As for the 12-metre city buses, they are said to be equipped with new generation advanced modular lithium-ion NMC battery packs, designed specifically for the Indian market and climatic conditions which affects the performance of the EVs.

Mahesh Babu, Chief Executive Officer, Switch India & Chief Operating Officer, Switch Mobility Ltd., said: "With increasing focus on electrification of mass public transportation, Switch India is committed to democratizing zero-carbon mobility. 

In order to cater to these needs, Switch India launched the Switch EiV 12 platform in June 2022 and today we are delighted to begin initial deliveries of our Switch EiV buses to BMTC as part of our 300-strong electric bus order. These buses will play a vital role in reducing carbon footprint in the city of Bengaluru - a reduction of over 14,500 tonnes of CO2 per year equivalent to planting 87,000 trees".

Further, the Switch EiV 12 buses roll off the showroom floor with cutting-edge technology which delivers uber cool performance and enhances the customer experience. The design seems to be contemporary and is claimed to be built on the experience of 50 million km clocked globally. According to the press release, the vehicle comes with connected technology solutions- ‘Switch iON’ which enables real-time diagnostics and monitoring services while offering top-class digital battery management tools.
