Powertrain and Performance

The Bajaj Compact RE is available in a choice of four single-cylinder, oil-cooled, engine options. First is the 470.5 cc diesel engine, which produces 8.37 hp of maximum power. The 236.2cc petrol engine is available in three versions – pure petrol, CNG and LPG. While the pure petrol version’s engine produces 10.2 hp of maximum power, the CNG and LPG versions’ engine produces 9.25 hp of maximum power. In all four versions of Bajaj Compact RE, a 4-speed manual gearbox is offered as the standard transmission.

Exterior and Interior

The Bajaj Compact RE takes forward the iconic design of the old-generation Auto Rickshaw and introduces a few tweaks to it, which makes it look more aggressive than before. The front profile of the Compact RE now looks more wholesome with the heavy-looking black garnish in the middle. This muscular-looking T-shaped black panel accommodates rounded halogen headlamps on the corners. This black panel flows down towards the front wheel fender, which is body-coloured here. The turn indicators are placed below the corners of the slightly curved windshield.
The Bajaj Compact RE has a soft top over its tubular frame, with the interior of the three-wheeled auto-rickshaw having a flat bench for three people. The Compact RE also comes with body-coloured lockable side door panels and slightly flared wheel arches for which Auto Rickshaw insurance can be bought. At the back, the Bajaj Compact RE gets vertically-aligned small tail lamps, with a meshed grille in the middle behind its powertrain.
