  The Piaggio Ape Xtra LDX is being offered with two engine options – a diesel engine and a CNG powertrain. The 599cc single-cylinder water-cooled diesel engine of the Piaggio Ape Xtra LDX produces a maximum power output of 9.4 bhp and a torque output of 23.5 Nm. On the other hand, the 230cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, CNG powertrain of the Piaggio Ape Xtra LDX is capable of producing 9.6 bhp of power and 16.5 Nm. A 4-speed manual gearbox is the standard transmission for both engine choices.

There is a black coloured strip separating the upper and lower halves of the front profile, while the front fender of the Piaggio Ape Xtra LDX is also finished in a theme of black. The body-coloured side doors of the Piaggio Ape Xtra LDX come adorned with a nice set of decals, while the lower edges of the front windscreen come mounted with rearview mirrors.
