Tata Motors signed an MoU with THINK Gas to boost the LNG refueling infrastructure for long-haul and heavy-duty trucking in India. The collaboration intends to achieve better fuel availability, ensure sustained fuel quality and promote the wider use of LNG-powered commercial vehicles.
Under the agreement, Tata Motors would work with THINK Gas to identify freight corridors and logistics clusters where LNG infrastructure could be expanded. THINK Gas will ensure consistent fuel supply and quality standards. Preferential pricing for the customers of Tata Motors also forms a part of the collaboration.
Rajesh Kaul, Vice President and Business Head - Trucks at Tata Motors, said, “As India proceeds towards sustainable and efficient freight movement, LNG presents an exciting solution for long-haul and heavy-duty trucking. With this partnership of THINK Gas, we aim to enhance the readiness of the ecosystem further by assuring the dependability of refueling infrastructure and helping fleet operators adopt LNG with certainty.”
Somil Garg, Senior Vice President and Business Head - LNG Fuel at THINK Gas, said the foray aligns with its objective of expanding access to cleaner fuels. Backed by leading global investors like I-Squared Capital, Osaka Gas, Sumitomo Corporation, Konoike Transport, and JOIN, THINK Gas said it aims to expand its LCNG (Liquefied and Compressed Natural Gas) network to the industrial hubs, agricultural areas and logistics parks.
