SIAM organized the third Green Plate EV Rally in New Delhi at Bharat Mandapam. The rally brought together 181 vehicles from 18 manufacturers. The lineup included two wheelers, three wheelers, cars, buses and trucks, showing how broad the EV market has become.

The rally took place with support from the Ministry of Heavy Industries. It carried the theme Boosting Customer Confidence in Automotive Electrification. The event was also part of SIAM’s विद्युतीकरण (Electrification) initiative, which promotes clean mobility.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off the rally. She set an ambitious target for the city. “Delhi has always been a focal point of opportunities, attracting people from across India. I invite EV manufacturers to partner with us in this mission of building a cleaner and greener Delhi,” Gupta said. She added that Delhi aims for 100 percent electric transport by 2026. She also urged people to support the mission so that one in three vehicles on Delhi’s roads is electric.

Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa spoke about the national agenda. He said sustainability links directly with progress. He pointed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s net zero goal and said the rally aligned with that vision.

SIAM Executive Director Prashant K Banerjee spoke about the present relevance of electric mobility. He said EVs are the base of a sustainable India, not only a trend of the future. He credited government policies and new infrastructure for encouraging manufacturers and consumers.

The rally also featured a panel discussion. Officials from the Ministry of Heavy Industries, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Delhi Police Traffic Division, NITI Aayog and SIAM joined. They discussed how to speed up adoption, fill infrastructure gaps and build confidence around EVs.

SIAM continues to work on both sustainability and safety. The body promotes responsible driving under its SIAM Safe Journey Initiative. Its road safety initiative connects cleaner mobility with safer roads.

As a charitable organization, SIAM represents major vehicle and engine makers in India. It works to advance the auto industry while protecting the environment and improving safety standards. The Green Plate EV Rally marked another step in this effort.
