India’s commercial transport industry is changing fast. The shift comes from fuel price hikes, emission regulations, and the government’s drive for sustainability. Electric vehicles now lead this change. Among them, Montra Electric and JBM Auto play a defining role. Both companies build advanced electric vehicles and solutions that help India move toward clean and efficient transport.

Montra Electric: Innovation for Heavy-Duty Freight

Montra Electric, part of the Murugappa Group, has become a strong name in India’s electric commercial vehicle space. Its flagship truck, the Montra Rhino 5538 EV, stands built for long-distance freight. The truck carries 55 tonnes and runs on a 282 kWh battery. With 2000 Nm torque, it handles heavy loads with power and stability.

Montra also builds smaller models for cities and construction sites. The Eviator carries a 1.7-ton payload and suits local deliveries. The Super Cargo three-wheeler supports last-mile logistics with a real-world range of 170 km and fast charging options. For heavy work in mining and infrastructure, the Rhino 2838 EV Tipper provides strength and endurance.

JBM Auto: Mobility Through Infrastructure

JBM Auto, known for its electric buses, is now moving deeper into electric commercial transport. Its subsidiary, JBM Ecolife Mobility, drives this change. The company recently received a $100 million investment from the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The goal is to expand electric bus operations and support systems across India.

JBM’s strategy combines vehicles and infrastructure. It builds buses, charging stations, and battery technologies that work as one system. Through its ECOFUEL program, JBM installs sustainable charging networks across major cities. These networks help transport fleets switch easily to electric power. The company’s integrated model shows that real progress in electric mobility depends as much on infrastructure as on vehicle design.

Building a Sustainable Transport Future

The rise of electric trucks marks a major shift in India’s logistics network. These vehicles promise lower costs, reduced emissions, and reliable operation. For fleet owners and transporters, the shift means better savings and long-term stability.

Montra Electric proves that electric power can manage heavy-duty freight without compromise. Its trucks match diesel rivals in torque and endurance while cutting running costs. JBM Auto, on the other hand, creates the foundation for large-scale adoption. By combining manufacturing with charging infrastructure, it ensures that electric vehicles fit smoothly into India’s commercial transport system.
