  1. Check Manufacturing Year:

First and foremost, you need to check the manufacturing year of the truck. You need to make sure that the truck you are purchasing isn’t too old so that you can operate it for many more years. The newer the better, so make sure to check the year it was built.

To check the manufacturing year, you should first ask for the owner's manual which consists of details regarding the truck. However, if you are not sure about the manufacturing year, you could always check the seatbelt. Yes, you heard it right! The seat belt has a description of the year it was made, so check for the small slip attached to it.

  1. Check Service History:

It is always a good idea to check the service history to make sure that the truck you are about to purchase has been taken care of and maintained. Service history tells you details regarding when and what components have been changed, how many times the truck has undergone oil change and similar details.

So, check for the service history to know if the truck has undergone scheduled maintenance.

  1. Inspect engine:

Next, make sure to check the dipstick to see if the engine oil is too old or even new. This will allow you to know if the vehicle has been well maintained. Also, check for signs of an oil leak, antifreeze leak, damaged shaft, worn out joints and fittings as well.

  1. Take it for a spin:

Finally, take the truck for a test drive since it will tell you a lot about the vehicle. While on a test drive, make sure to check for vibrations from the steering because abnormal vibration could mean that the steering components have worn out. Also, shift gears and accelerate to check for any signs of damage or overheating.
