Delhi is set to launch 100 e-buses on Interstate Pilgrimage Routes

Delhi is getting 100 new electric buses. These buses will run between states. The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will operate them. The goal is to promote clean travel and cut pollution. The buses will connect Delhi with key places, which include Haridwar, Ayodhya, Rishikesh, Meerut, and Baghpat. These places are around 250–300 kilometers from Delhi; most of them are pilgrimage spots. That’s why officials chose them first.

The decision came from a DTC board meeting. The meeting was led by Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh. He said these buses will improve travel and help people visit spiritual destinations; at the same time, they’ll reduce the city’s emissions.

Officials have spoken to UPSRTC. They want to check the routes. The officials need to know if the Type-3 electric buses can run smoothly on the identified routes. These talks are part of the planning stage. The new buses are Type-3 electric buses. These buses are large and suitable for long journeys. They offer more seats. Some even have space for sleeping. DTC's current staff will oversee these operations. That way, operations stay simple.

The government is pushing this plan under “Green Delhi, Clean Delhi.” This is part of a wider campaign called “Viksit Sankalp Yatra.” Both focus on growth and the environment. Pankaj Kumar Singh said this step is big. It supports Delhi’s mobility goals. It also helps keep the air cleaner. And it gives better access to cities nearby.
