The trucking industry is expanding and growing rapidly in India due to an efficient and reliable fleet of vehicles and operators to take on any kind of application. Truck breakdowns make drivers extremely frustrated since it takes time to find out the root cause of the trouble. For instance, imagine a situation wherein the engine of the truck is overheating. There could be a million reasons behind it. This could affect the operator's performance and credibility as well.

So, we believe that truckers like every other being on earth need a helping hand. In this regard, we have carefully picked out a few reasons why an engine of a truck might be overheating, to help truckers in troubled times. So, here are the top 3 reasons why a truck overheats.

  1. Temperature Gauge:

First and foremost, a truck could show that the engine is overheating due to a faulty thermostat. It could be either partially open, stuck or have bad wiring. Therefore, it's best to check and recheck the thermostat to see if it could be the cause for your truck overheating. If it is a faulty thermostat, then it could be an easy fix and you would not have to pay hefty amounts to fix it in most cases. It depends on what you are driving and the labour charges the mechanic seeks.

  1. Blown Gasket:

Next, a blown head gasket could be the reason why your engine is overheating. If you find bubbling coolant under the hood or milky brown liquid under the oil filler cap, then it could mean that there is a broken head gasket or gasket leak. If it's a blown head gasket, then it's best that you stop driving the truck and tow it to a mechanic since driving the truck could further damage the engine.

  1. Radiator issues:

Finally, if the radiator has a broken hose or broken radiator cap, then the truck is prone to overheating. If the coolant is not moving through the system as intended, then the engine can overheat easily. So, check if the radiator is leaking, if the water pump is not working and if you have a broken hose to find the issue.
