The crash test procedures will probably cover frontal impact tests at 64 km/h, side impact tests at 50 km/h, and pole side impact tests at 29 km/h, modified to the specific structural and operational features of trucks. The expense of compliance could also drive up vehicle prices, which could affect small fleet owners. The government also needs to deal with the older, unsafe trucks on India's roads, either through retrofit mandates or scrappage policies.

Another essential element is enforcement. The optional nature of Bharat NCAP for cars implies that commercial vehicle ratings can also be optional in the beginning. But requiring safety ratings for new trucks could spur the uptake of safer commercial vehicle standards.
