Starting today, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has launched a new metro feeder bus route, numbered 180-A, connecting Kaval Byrasandra and Mysuru Road Bus Station.

Key Route and Timings

The route passes through Mehkri Circle, Yeshwantpur, Rajajinagar, Vijaynagara, and Attiguppe, improving access to metro lines and key bus stops. Six buses will serve this route.

The first bus from Kaval Byrasandra departs at 4:45 am, and the last leaves at 8:15 pm. From Mysuru Road Bus Station, the first bus starts at 5:50 am, with the last at 9:30 pm, BMTC said in a press release.

Improving Last-Mile Connectivity

This service is non-AC and aims to bridge last-mile gaps in public transport. BMTC has aligned the bus timings to match metro schedules and commuter needs during peak hours.

Feeder Over Coverage

Route 180-A builds on BMTC’s effort to offer feeder services that connect residential areas with metro infrastructure. Unlike standard bus routes, feeders prioritize connectivity over coverage. The buses will stop at strategic points, easing travel for daily riders across northwest and southwest Bengaluru.

Part of a Larger Expansion

This move follows BMTC’s expansion strategy seen last year, when 37 feeder routes began operating from KR Puram. More recently, electric feeder buses were added to connect the Silk Institute Metro Station with Electronic City, targeting tech workers in south Bengaluru.

Reliable Service for Daily Commuters

BMTC’s aim is clear: integrate bus and metro travel, reduce car dependence, and make daily commutes smoother. Many commuters, especially early office-goers, are likely to benefit. The wider service window, starting before 5 am and running past 9 pm, helps those with long or irregular hours.

Conclusion: A Step Forward for Urban Mobility

With six buses rotating along the route, BMTC expects consistent service throughout the day. If the response is strong, capacity may increase.

By tightening the links between metro and bus networks, this service adds real value to public transport in the city, especially for those seeking fast, direct connections without extra transfers.
