A wedding procession in Uttar Pradesh brought together simplicity, dignity and the power of the community in a unique way. A groom in the Deoria district was unable to provide his guests with luxury transportation for their arrival to the wedding; however, 30 e-rickshaws were provided to transport the groom, his family and friends to the wedding through the joy of friendship. The e-rickshaws were all decorated in the same manner but were moving together in a way that demonstrated a high level of unity. This extraordinary event has created one of the year's most unique baraat processions: the UP e-rickshaw baraat; and is now generating tremendous admiration on many social media sites and news channels.
The groom, Durgesh Prasad, makes a living as a daily-wage labourer from Khukhundu village. Limited savings placed a traditional baraat firmly out of reach. When his friends understood the challenge, they acted quickly. They approached the local e-rickshaw drivers, coordinated travel plans, decorated vehicles and made sure the groom would not feel the absence of expensive transportation.
What emerged was indeed a creative wedding baraat shaped not by any element of wealth, but by genuine support. The friends gathered more than 100 guests, seated them across the fleet and then travelled together in one continuous, vibrant formation. The convoy turned modest electric vehicles into a statement of unity; each e-rickshaw carried people who stood strongly with the groom on his most important day.

Most baraats are still dependent on horses, vintage vehicles, or premium SUVs to carry them. This bridegroom's procession, however, shifted focus from status to solidarity. The groom sat in an e-rickshaw, decorated with flowers and cloth, moving steadily through narrow lanes lined with villagers who watched with curiosity and delight.
The choice of e-rickshaws did more than solve a financial limitation; it created a unique groom entry-something that felt personal, really grounded and sincere. Each vehicle carried family members and friends who cheered loudly while the convoy moved toward the bride's village.
The story quickly spread when footage of the event started going viral. People weren't just looking at images of 30 vehicles making a procession but also at what it actually signified: the pride in a groom who refused to let financial hardship take that away from him, friends who stepped in with no hesitation and a community that values togetherness more than spectacle.
As these videos went viral, comments also admired the groom's humility, loyalty of friends and the warmth of the community. This story did strike a chord because it reflected many challenges that families face, yet solved them in such a graceful and creative manner.
