India's 3-wheeler retail was at 1,29,517 units for the month of October 2025, reflecting 5.43% YoY growth from 1,22,848 units sold in October 2024. The month also presented a 31 percent month-on-month (MoM) jump, compared with 98,866 units sold in September 2025, marking strong demand following the transition period of GST 2.0.
FADA has today released the monthly sales report for October 2025, besides also reporting on the 42-day festive season retail performance. Sales in the 3-wheeler segment reached 1,74,189 units, up 8.90% YoY from 1,59,959 units sold during the same period in 2024.
Passenger 3-wheelers showed strong momentum. Retail sales increased from 60,171 units in October 2024 to 69,937 units in October 2025, a 16.23% YoY gain and a 42.60% MoM increase.
Sales of passenger e-rickshaws, however, decreased 15.60% YoY, with 37,117 units sold in October 2025 compared to 43,975 units a year earlier. Month over month, sales rose 8.90% from 34,083 units in September 2025.
The cargo 3-wheeler segment had 15,239 units sold, up 19.81% YoY and 59.25% MoM compared to 12,719 units sold in October 2024.
Retail sales of e-rickshaws with carts grew 18.47% YoY and 15.72% MoM to reach 6,979 units in October 2025 from 5,891 units a year ago.
Notably, personal 3-wheelers showed major gains. Sales were up 166.30% YoY, with 245 units sold in October 2025, up from 92 units in October 2024. MoM growth was 77.54%, compared to 138 units sold in September 2025.
Battery-operated electric vehicles continued to lead the 3-wheeler segment, with a 54.51% share of total retail sales in October 2025, compared with 61.73% in September. CNG/LPG vehicles followed with 30.18% market share, diesel vehicles at 15.05%, and petrol/ethanol vehicles at 0.26%.
Retail sales in rural RTOs accounted for 54.3% of total sales, up 33.65% MoM and 9.13% YoY, while urban RTOs accounted for the remaining 45.7%, with 28% MoM growth and a moderate 1.35% YoY increase.
C.S. Vigneshwar, President of FADA, added, “October 2025 saw a strong rebound following the initial slowdown due to GST 2.0. Pent-up demand combined with festive sentiment pushed 3-wheeler sales to historic levels, with the overall segment growing 5% YoY.”
On the festive season performance, he added, “The 42-day sales highlight that GST 2.0 has positively influenced affordability, stimulated demand, and encouraged consumer growth across India. The 3-wheeler segment posted a 9% YoY increase during this period.”
