In a powerful stride toward sustainable transport, Blue Energy Motors has crossed a critical threshold. Its fleet of LNG-powered commercial trucks has now covered over 50 million kilometres on Indian highways. This remarkable feat translates into 14,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided—a number as meaningful as it is monumental.

What does that mean in practical terms? It’s equivalent to the annual carbon absorption of more than 560,000 trees. This milestone comes at a pivotal moment. India has pledged to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2070, and the transport sector stands as a major obstacle. Although commercial vehicles make up just 4% of the total fleet, they account for nearly 40% of the sector’s CO₂ emissions, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Such disparity makes decarbonizing freight not just necessary, but urgent.

Speaking on the achievement, Anirudh Bhuwalka, CEO of Blue Energy Motors, stated:

“Crossing the milestone of 50 million kms by Blue Energy Motors trucks is a testament to the growing footprint of green energy trucks across the ecosystem. With 14,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions saved, it is a proud moment and a strong reflection of our commitment to driving sustainable change in the trucking industry. This achievement—equivalent to the annual carbon absorption of over 5,60,000 trees—underscores the transformative potential of our LNG-powered trucks and the role of clean energy in decarbonizing logistics. At Blue Energy Motors, we are not only redefining freight mobility with alternate fuel solutions but also building a comprehensive ecosystem of sustainable commercial vehicles for the future. We remain steadfast in our vision of a cleaner, greener tomorrow leading the shift toward sustainable mobility in India and beyond.”

LNG trucks, designed for long-haul routes, offer significant advantages. They reduce carbon emissions by up to 30%, while sharply lowering particulate matter and nitrogen oxide output. This makes them not only cleaner but smarter, particularly for fleet operators seeking both sustainability and efficiency.

But Blue Energy Motors isn’t stopping at long-haul innovation. The company is preparing to launch its first line of electric heavy-duty trucks for short-distance logistics. This dual-technology strategy, combining LNG and EV platforms, positions the company to tackle emissions across the entire transport chain.

In a bid to extend the green trucking infrastructure, the company has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra. This partnership aims to fast-track the adoption of LNG vehicles within the state and support the development of LNG refuelling stations. The initiative sends a strong message: public-private collaboration is key to realizing the nation’s low-emission logistics vision.
