Ashok Leyland Unveils India's First Flexi-Fuel-Based Tractor

Latest News: Ashok Leyland has unveiled India’s first flexi-fuel engine integrated tractor at Auto Expo 2023- the A6 6x4 LNG tractor. 

Commercial vehicle manufacturers are advancing in terms of creating vehicles, especially articulated tractors that can offer the best performance to their customers spread across the length and breadth of India, particularly, end-use industries such as the food & beverage industry, construction industry, healthcare industry and associated logistics that look forward to minimising downtime.

One such commercial vehicle maker in the country renowned for manufacturing advanced vehicles, precisely articulated trucks is believed to be Ashok Leyland. However, to take things a notch higher, Ashok Leyland has unveiled India’s first flexi-fuel engine integrated tractor at Auto Expo 2023- the A6 6x4 LNG tractor. 

As for the tractor, it comes equipped with an advanced A Series, 6-cylinder LNG/CNG powered engine which has the capacity to deliver 240 kW of maximum power at 2400 rpm and 1200 Nm of peak torque at around 1200 - 1800 rpm. This superior powertrain is mated to, what is believed to be a slick 9-speed synchromesh gearbox with crawler gear.

Further, in terms of weight and dimensions, the tractor comes with a Gross Combination Weight rated 55,000 kgs, low resistance tubeless tyres sized 295/18/R99.S, a wheelbase of 3900 mm, a turning circle diameter of 14300 mm and LNG cryogenic tank and CNG tank with a fuel tank capacity of 900 Litres and 40 litres (4x40) respectively. 

Moreover, the tractor is also built on their heavy-duty, rigidly constructed modular AVTR platform with a fully floating single reduction hypoid axle for better haulage capacity and stability while clocking top speed. Furthermore, the vehicle can be configured as per the customers’ requirements for better operational conditions based on specific applications.

Apart from this, the truck also comes with an intelligent onboard switch which automatically switches from LNG to CNG and vice versa on priority based on availability. Also, the truck will be offered with parabolic suspension in the front end for stability and comfort while the rear houses non-reactive suspension for better comfort.
