The Tata 609g SFC is the CNG-powered version of the very capable 610 range of light-duty trucks from Tata Motors. While it gets a slightly different powertrains setup, it retains the design and mechanicals of the 610 range. Available in three variants &ndash; CBC, HDLB and FSD, the Tata 609g SFC claim a payload capacity of 2960 kg.

Unlike most of the light-duty trucks from Tata, the 609g SFC is powered by a 3.8-litre four-cylinder engine, which is CNG-powered. The engine here is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and produces a maximum power output of 115 bhp and a peak torque output of 285 Nm &ndash; lower than the power and torque figures produced by the 3.0-litre diesel engine.&nbsp;

The Tata 609g SFC is powered by a CNG-powered 3.8-litre engine, which is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox and produces 115 hp of power and 285 Nm of torque. 

The Tata 609g SFC has a suspension setup, which is a combination of a Parabolic spring with rubber bush, 2 no Hydraulic Double acting Shock Absorbers with an Antiroll bar at the front, and Semi elliptical leaf springs, and 2 no Hydraulic Double acting Shock Absorbers at the rear. The Tata 609g SFC rolls on 8.25-16 tyres.

The Tata 609g SFC gets the same leaf-spring-based suspension as other light-duty trucks from Tata Motors and comes with 8.25-16 tyres all around. 

There are three different variants of the Tata 609g SFC &ndash; CBC, HDLB and FSD. All these three variants of the Tata 609g SFC share the same wheelbase of 3305mm and gross vehicle weight of 5950 kg. While the FSD and HDLB variants measure 5412mm long and 2100mm wide, the CBC variants measures 5407mm long and 1905mm wide. Also, while the CBC and HDLB variants are 2380mm tall, the HSD variant has a height of 2959mm. While the overall kerb weight of the 609g SFC is 5950 kg, the payload capacity f the truck is 2960 kg.

Sharing its design with the other 3.0-litre diesel-powered variants of the light-duty truck range from Tata Motors, the Tata 609g SFC has an iconic design which has been derived from the 407 range. The tapering bonnet of the 609g SFC flows down towards the black-themed front fascia, which includes rectangular headlamps on the corners and a large vertically-aligned grille in the middle.&nbsp;

The overall design of the Tata 609g SFC is derived from the 407 range, including the tapering down the bonnet and black-themed front fascia with rectangular headlamps. 

Tata Motors has followed an all-black approach for the cabin of the 609g SFC, which has hard plastics all around. While the cabin is functional and practical, everything here looks a bit dated, including the two-spoke steering wheel, the all-analogue instrument console and a plain-looking centre console with an array of switches at the bottom and a 1-DIN audio system with AC blowers on its sides.&nbsp;

The Tata 609g SFC gets an all-black cabin, which has a plain appeal to it with the simple-looking steering wheel, instrument console and centre console. 

With a decent list of equipment including air blower vents, power steering and a 1-DIN audio system, the Tata 609g SFC sticks to its core principle of simplicity.
