Hino Trucks

Hino has built a reputation worldwide for producing reliable, heavy-duty trucks that can fulfill their purpose for many years. The majority of the trucks sold throughout India contain engines with exceptionally high torque, dependable drivetrains and are engineered to travel long distances across highways without requiring frequent maintenance.

Hino's trucks are generally considered the best option for fleets transporting industrial freight (containers or bulk goods). In addition, Hino trucks use significantly less fuel than most of their competitors; thus, they provide fleet owners with predictable fuel costs while typically requiring less mechanical service over the life of the vehicle compared to many competing brands.

Hino offers a limited selection of products in India. However, all of the models currently available feature spacious, comfortable cabs, high torque output characteristics and the durability that has become synonymous with Hino's reputation.

    About Hino Commercial Vehicle

Hino offers medium and heavy commercial trucks recognised for long engine life and steady mileage. These trucks found use in reefer transport, regional cargo and fleet operations valuing durability. While Hino is less active today, its legacy trucks remain in circulation due to dependable mechanicals. Popular models include the light-duty Hino 300 series and medium-duty Hino 500 series, which is also known as the Ranger or Hino Ranger in some markets.

Price of Hino Trucks in India

As Hino trucks are primarily designed for heavy duty transport, they fall within the upper tier of commercial pricing. Due to their appeal to companies that value consistent reliability, reasonable ongoing costs, and robustness, Hino trucks are priced competitively with similar quality vehicles. Prices are influenced by state, taxes, and body style. However, the two most common model types sold in India demonstrate a clear indication of the positioning Hino is taking within the marketplace.

    1) Hino 500 FL8J

The Hino 500 FL8J generally falls in the ₹35–40 lakh range depending on location and body fitment. It’s built around a 7.7-litre J08E-UH diesel engine that produces around 209 horsepower and about 661 Nm of torque, giving it enough pulling strength for intercity and industrial cargo.

The truck runs with a gross vehicle weight close to 25 tonnes and usually comes with a 5035 mm wheelbase, which supports container bodies and long cargo boxes well. A 6-speed manual gearbox handles power delivery, while a 200-litre fuel tank gives it solid range for long daily runs.

Full air brakes with ABS and a suspension setup using parabolic leaf springs at the front and semi-elliptic leaves at the rear help maintain stability under load. This configuration makes the FL8J suitable for interstate cargo, FMCG movement, industrial materials and container transport.

    2) Hino 500 FM8J

The FM8J is positioned a bit higher, mostly quoted between ₹38–45 lakh depending on state and body build. It uses the J08E-UG engine, also a 7.7-litre unit, but tuned to produce roughly 247 horsepower and 716 Nm of torque, giving it the muscle needed for heavier cargo.

Its gross vehicle weight sits around 26.5 tonnes, and operators can choose between wheelbase lengths of about 4535 mm or 5035 mm, depending on the application. Fuel storage remains a 200-litre tank, while a 9-speed manual transmission improves flexibility on gradients and long hauls.

The braking system uses full air brakes with ABS, and the suspension setup, similar to the FL8J, combines parabolic leafs at the front with semi-elliptic rear leafs. Because of this stronger driveline and greater torque, the FM8J is a popular choice for cement loads, tankers, industrial supplies, heavy construction items and other bulk movement where stability matters.

    Why Transporters Prefer Hino Trucks

Businesses that run long stretches often appreciate that Hino engines develop torque early, allowing the truck to move weight smoothly without excessive fuel burn. The driveline is engineered to stay reliable under continuous highway conditions, and the chassis maintains rigidity even with day-after-day loading. Drivers also tend to like the more relaxed cabin layout, which helps reduce fatigue on long routes. For fleet owners, one of the biggest advantages is predictable maintenance. Hino engines typically need fewer unexpected repairs, which reduces downtime and stabilizes running costs over months of operation.
