Sharing its 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine with the other prominent models of the Dost range, the Ashok Leyland Dost Strong claims a maximum power output of 70 hp and a peak torque output of 170 Nm. These performance figures are marginally lower than those of the Dost+, below which it is positioned in the Dost lineup. Here, the engine is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Under its durable body, the Ashok Leyland Dost Strong is bestowed with a suspension combination of parabolic leaves with double-action shock absorbers at the front and two-stage parabolic leaf springs at the rear. The Ashok Leyland Dost Stong’s braking setup includes disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. Compared to the Dost+, the Ashok Leyland Dost Strong gets smaller 14-inch steel wheels with 185 R14 radial tyres.
Riding on R14 radial tyres, the Ashok Leyland Dost Strong gets a conventional leaf spring suspension setup and braking combination of front discs and rear drums.
Given that it is positioned below the Dost+ in the lineup, the Ashok Leyland Dost Strong is slightly smaller than the former, with a length of 4,485mm, a width of 1,620mm, a height of 1,835mm and a wheelbase of 2,350mm. The cargo body of the Ashok Leyland Dost Strong is decently big too, with a length of 2,500mm, a width of 1,620mm, a height of 380mm and a loading height of 840mm. The Ashok Leyland Dost Strong shares its outer appearance with the Dost CNG, which looks like a slight update over the previous generation Dost, already sold as Dost Lite. The frontal part of the Ashok Leyland Dost Strong looks unique with its protruding out design for the fascia, which includes two large headlamps and a blacked-out applique between the headlamps. These headlamps come with L-shaped turn indicators on their outer boundaries. The Ashok Leyland Dost Strong is available in three variants – LE, LS and LX, with the LE and LS getting a black front bumper, while the LX getting a body-coloured front bumper.

On the inside, the Ashok Leyland Dost Strong looks premium for its positioning, with the cabin having a dual-tone brown and beige finish usually found in more premium passenger cars. However, the cabin is fully made of hard plastics with decent fit and finish levels. There are rounded AC vents on the corners of the dashboard and the sides of the upper centre console. Between the AC vents in the centre console, there is an audio system, while the lower centre console houses AC controls.

The Ashok Leyland Dost Strong is decently equipped with bare essentials like a fully-digital instrument console, manual air conditioning, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, mobile charging point and lockable glove box. While the power steering is available from the LS variant onwards, AC is available only in the LX variant. There is also a 1-DIN audio system present in the upper centre console.
