Tata Motors will soon launch a new Ace Diesel. This time, the truck will run without DEF and SCR. These systems, added for BS6 norms, increased costs and maintenance. Now, Tata wants to fix that.
Earlier, Tata used SCR and DEF to cut emissions. These added weight, needed refills, and caused downtime. Small operators could not manage this. Tata noticed this issue. Now, the new Ace will skip both systems. It will still follow BS6 rules, but in a smarter way.
Tata’s goal is clear: bring down the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Fewer parts mean fewer problems. That helps drivers and small businesses.
Before 2020, the Ace Diesel made up most of Tata’s SCV sales. Then BS6 came in. DEF and SCR made the truck harder to use. Buyers moved to cheaper three-wheelers. Tata lost market share.
Now, it wants that share back. The new Ace will be simple, strong, and low-maintenance. Tata hopes this will pull buyers back.
Many buyers live in rural areas. There, DEF and SCR are hard to handle. Service centers are far. Fluids are hard to find. When trucks stop, work stops. Tata knows this. That’s why this version of Ace will work better in such places.
It’s meant for daily jobs: goods delivery, farm runs, local transport. It will help drivers earn more and spend less.
Tata Motors also sells Ace Petrol, CNG, and EV versions. But diesel still matters. For many routes, diesel gives power and range that others can’t.
This move is not just about one truck. It’s part of Tata’s plan to grow again in Small Commercial Vehicles (SCV). The company wants to serve the mini truck market with tools that are simple, tough, and cost-effective.
With the return of a cleaner, simpler Ace Diesel, Tata Motors wants to fix what BS6 broke. No DEF. No SCR. Just a solid truck that works. For rural drivers, for city traders, for anyone who needs a low-cost, hard-working vehicle — Tata’s new Ace is coming.
