Bajaj Auto reported a mixed set of numbers for July. Total vehicle sales rose 3% year-on-year to 366,000 units. But the growth came almost entirely from exports. The domestic market continued to drag. The company had sold 354,169 units in July last year.

One bright spot: commercial vehicles. Bajaj’s domestic sales in this category edged up 4% to 43,864 units, from 42,150 last year. That helped offset some of the weakness.

Exports Show Strong Recovery

Exports were the real driver last month. Bajaj Auto shipped 25,889 commercial vehicles overseas in July, a 79% increase from the 14,478 units sold in July 2024. Overall export figures weren’t disclosed by category in detail, but the sharp jump in commercial vehicles is significant.

It reflects the company's growing push into global markets, especially as domestic demand softens.

Year-to-Date Numbers Paint a Similar Picture

From April to July 2025, total sales rose 1% to 1,477,237 units. Domestic sales during the period were down 9%, while exports surged 19%. Once again, Bajaj commercial vehicle exports stood out, growing 44% in the four-month period.

The figures clearly highlight where the company is finding growth.

Global Focus as Domestic Market Slows

Bajaj Auto appears to be leaning harder into its international strategy. With the Indian market facing a slowdown, exports are becoming more important.

Analysts say that competitive pricing and product positioning in overseas markets have worked in Bajaj’s favor. Bajaj Auto price points have remained attractive, helping it gain share abroad even as domestic headwinds continue.

Conclusion

The company hasn’t issued fresh guidance but is expected to maintain its focus on exports in the coming months. If current trends continue, international markets may remain the primary growth engine for the rest of the year.

For now, Bajaj Auto reports a cautiously positive July. The numbers tell a story of two markets, India slowing, overseas rising. And for a company long seen as a bellwether in the industry, that’s worth watching.
