Starting June 16, MSRTC will deliver student bus passes directly to schools. This new step removes the need for students to visit depots or pass centres. The move will save time, reduce hassle, and help lakhs of school and college students across Maharashtra.

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced the initiative. He said MSRTC staff will visit schools and colleges with passes based on lists submitted by the institutions. Students no longer need to form groups or wait at counters for long hours. The minister called this campaign "ST Pass Directly to Your School."

Students commuting between home and school will still get the 66.66% fare subsidy. They will only need to pay the remaining 33.33% to receive the monthly pass. The plan stays unchanged, but the process becomes easier.

In addition, students up to Class 12 will receive free passes under the Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar scheme. This scheme promotes education by removing travel costs for young learners.

MSRTC’s chairman said the new delivery method will speed up access to passes and ensure students get them on time. It also removes logistics issues, encouraging better attendance and reducing disruption.

By improving this process, MSRTC is supporting commercial bus users in the education sector. The move highlights the growing role of school buses, the need for better bus prices, and how the commercial vehicle ecosystem in India is evolving to meet social needs.
