If you drive regularly in India, chances are you’ve already come across a Jio-bp fuel station. A few years ago, most people hadn’t heard of Jio-bp, but today, its fuel stations are up on highways, inside cities and along busy freight routes.
Jio-bp started operations in 2020, set up as a joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited and bp. The formal company name is Reliance BP Mobility Limited, though most people know it simply as Jio-bp. Its head office is in Navi Mumbai, but its real footprint is spread across the country.
Reliance knows India. Its strength lies in scale, logistics, digital systems and understanding how Indian consumers behave especially when price, convenience and trust are involved. bp comes from a different background altogether. It brings fuel research, global testing standards and decades of experience working with vehicle manufacturers and energy systems across countries.
Jio-bp sits somewhere in the middle of those two worlds. It’s not trying to be experimental, and it’s not trying to look premium either. The focus is on making everyday fuels work better.
At the most basic level, Jio-bp sells petrol and diesel. But these aren’t positioned as regular fuels. Both are blended with what the company calls ACTIVE Technology, which is meant to help keep engines cleaner and maintain fuel efficiency over time. The key detail here is price. These fuels are sold at the same rate as standard petrol and diesel, not as a paid upgrade.
Electric mobility is another area where Jio-bp has been quietly expanding. Under the Jio-bp Pulse brand, the company has set up EV charging points and battery swapping stations, especially for two-wheelers and fleet use cases.
A large part of Jio-bp’s business comes from commercial and industrial users. Through air bp-Jio, it supplies aviation turbine fuel at airports. Through Fuel4U, diesel is delivered directly to fleet operators and industrial sites. Many mobility stations also offer oil changes, nitrogen tyre filling, cafés and convenience stores.
There’s also a strong digital layer. Loyalty programmes like Jio-bp 4ever, RewardMeter and Trans-Connect are built around mobile numbers instead of physical cards.
Jio-bp has publicly stated that it wants to be a major mobility solutions provider and a leader in low-carbon energy over the next decade. That includes EV infrastructure, cleaner fuels and better use of technology.
What stands out is the approach, the company seems focused on improving basics like fuel quality, station experience and access. In a market like India, Jio-bp is setting new benchmarks in performance, efficiency and accessibility, ensuring that better energy solutions are not a premium, but the standard for India.
